The Ars crew takes a look at the recently released 1.0 version of Mozilla Thunderbird. I use this as my email client and I am glad to see they find it suitable for everyday use.

Without a doubt, Mozilla Thunderbird is a very good e-mail client. It sends and receives mail, it checks it for spam, handles multiple accounts, imports data from your old e-mail application, scrapes RSS news feeds, and is even cross-platform. So is it ready for prime time? For some people not needing calendaring or task list functionality, we think Thunderbird is an excellent solution. If your current mail client is not good enough for your needs any more or if you are tired of always checking your Gmail from the web, we recommend that you give Mozilla Thunderbird a try.
