Remember when we told you around two months ago about a new browser called Flock? Well, if you don’t, Flock is an Open-Source browser built to make bloggers’ life easier by allowing you to post directly from the user interface. And this was a Flock exclusive feature, until now.
The Performancing team has released today their beta version of Performancing for Firefox.
What does Performancing do? It allows you to blog directly from your browser, without having to switch tabs. And even better, it has various cool features such as this one for example:
Try selecting some text on a page, and dragging that text into the body part of the blog editor. Try it with formatted text, like this paragraph for example. Isn’t that neat?
Also, you can open this extention in various ways, the default one is a “frame” that splits the browser window in half, but you can also choose to open the extension in another tab, window or browser, however you lose the drag-and-drop functionality.

1At some point, convenience features disturb usability. Selecting text and dragging may be slightly easier than ctrl+c and ctrl+v but if you get used to it, you’ll be wasting some time while using other apps like say a word processor. And if you constantly have to think about when to use a certain feature, is it really convenient?
Or the split frame as another example: How much easier is it than alt-tab when it re-arranges all the text and you suddenly cannot select and drag–which is another thing you have to keep thinking about?

2But think of all the saved time from not having to click on another tab, or *gasp* hit Ctrl+T and open a new one! This is the next biggest leap since the digital word processor. Thank you technology!

3Well, the main uses I see for this is the ability to have a “blog this button” anywhere you are. and quickly verify your article without having to switch windows.
It’s not the biggest thing since man landed on the moon, but it can help make blogging more enjoyable.
