If you really want to see Microsoft scramble to patch a hole in its software, don’t look to vulnerabilities that impact countless Internet Explorer users or give intruders control of thousands of Windows machines. Just crack Redmond’s DRM.
According to this writer (Bruce Schneier) when a hacker release an application recently that strips the copy protection out of media files. No more than three days after this hack was discovered, Microsoft released a patch to fix the exploit.
Giving that Microsoft only patches Windows XP nowadays once every month it’s sad to see that they have a much bigger interest in “fixing” their DRM’ed Media files rather than fixing dangerous exploits which could cause great harm specially in companies.
It’s this writer’s opinion and also my own that the recording industries should stop with their media restrictions and let us freely move the files we legally bought to whichever PC or media device we own.
