In case you haven’t heard it yet, August 5 is International Beer Day. It has been celebrated all over the world for four years now, thanks to Jesse Avshalomov, Evan Hamilton, Aaron Araki, and Richard Hernandez. Lest you get too excited about having a license to drink as many bottles of beer you want on Friday, let me briefly remind you what International Beer Day is all about. This special day is not just about drinking yourself to oblivion. It does have a three-fold purpose:
- To gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer.
- To celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer.
- To bring the world together under the united banner of beer by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures together on this one remarkable day.
So as you down those bottles on Friday and enjoy the refreshing liquid slide down your throat, remember those points about International Beer Day above!
Now for even more fun, I looked around for some cool infographics about beer. Last year, I shared an education infographic about the history of beer, so we won’t look at that this time. Here goes…
Your Complete Guide to Beer
In order for you to enjoy beer to the max, it is a good idea to know as much as you can about beer. After all, International Beer Day is all about celebrating the varieties of beer. While I don’t think this infographic covers every single kind of beer in the world, it does cover a lot.
The Best Beer in America
For our American friends, here is the guide that you need to find the best beer in your neck of the woods. For those of us who are based in other parts of the world, we’ll just have to hope that we have imports!
Most Expensive Pints in the World
I thought Singapore was going to be the death of me because of the price of alcohol. Apparently, it does not even rank in the top 10 most expensive places! And just so you know, here in the Philippines, you can find beer that is less expensive than Coke. Go figure!
How to Buy a Girl a Drink
In case you need some help getting a girl to allow you to buy her a drink on Friday night, here’s something from Heineken.
Periodic Table of Beer Styles
This, folks, is the ultimate beer infographic. I can spend hours and hours studying this periodic table and still want more. It’s perfect for a wall decoration, isn’t it?
That should prepare you enough for the festivities on International Beer Day 2011. Remember to be a responsible drinker!
