Telltale Games wisely chose the perfect time to release their first trailer for The Walking Dead, coming hot on the heels of the TV show’s second season finale (which was amazing, by the way). Also: the release date and price.
Telltale paid smart service to The Walking Dead fans by enlisting a fan-favorite animator to create this trailer. Daniel Kanemoto is best remembered as the guy that created the extraordinary fan-made opening credits for The Walking Dead TV series that everyone was abuzz about a few years ago. Kanemoto’s trailer for the game features art from the comic book mixed with footage from the game.
Along with the trailer, the studio also announced that they will be releasing the first episode of The Walking Dead simultaneously on Xbox Live, PSN, PC, and Mac in late April. The first episode will cost 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox and $4.99 on PSN. PC and Mac users can buy a season pass for all five episodes for $24.99. Additional formats for the game are already in the works.
Players who pre-order the season pass for PC or Mac at Telltale’s online store will be entered in a contest to have their likeness inserted into the game as a human survivor who becomes zombified.
Below I’ve embedded Kanemoto’s amazing opening credits for the TV show. Even though the series already had their own opening credits in the works, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and others commented on Kanemoto’s version as personal favorites.
