Who cares if the San Antonio Spurs’s Tim Duncan gets a “role” in a comic book?
I DO!!!
Obviously, I am a huge Tim Duncan fan (the whole team, actually), and I was thrilled to hear that he will be appearing in a special edition of Marvel’s The Punisher.
Now, why on earth would Marvel do this, and why is a Tim Duncan and The Punisher tandem significant?
Apparently, the best ever power forward in NBA history has been a huge fan of The Punisher for the longest time. He even dressed up as The Punisher for Halloween last year.
His knee brace, which some fans may have noticed, is also custom-made as a tribute to his favorite comic book character.
Marvel fans would know everything about The Punisher (I’m afraid I’ve never read), of course, and apparently, Tim Duncan has some similarities with the character. As CBSSports says, “[The Punisher is] the anti-hero to end all anti-heroes. He doesn’t make smart-aleck comments, he doesn’t fly, he just does the “job.” Probably something there Duncan likes.”
One last thing – the proceeds of sales will go to charity, so what’s not to like?
Suffice it to say that I will be getting this special edition if I can.
